I love artists who work with books, and even though these works are almost always a comment on the deterioration of the written word, I feel somewhat heartened that they exist at all.  Brian Dettmer is one of those artists.  He alters the information contained within the book through meticulous excavation & dissection, creating something entirely new.

dangerousdays: Oooh My’s! A shirt design inspired by George Takei/Sulu. Shirt designs are always limited from four to six colors, so now I have to go work on this some more so I can add more colors and detail so I can use it for other things rather than just a shirt. (Although I do really like the simplicity of this one).
